New York: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-profile roundtable with top American technology CEOs on Thursday, focusing on innovation, collaboration, and India’s expanding tech sector. The meeting, part of PM Modi’s three-day visit to the United States, took place at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel and was hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) School of Engineering.

Prominent participants included Google’s Sundar Pichai, Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, and Adobe’s Shantanu Narayen, along with leaders from sectors like artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, semiconductors, and biotechnology.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi expressed optimism, stating, “Had a fruitful roundtable with tech CEOs in New York, discussing aspects relating to technology, innovation, and more. Also highlighted the strides made by India in this field. I am glad to see immense optimism towards India.”

Cutting-Edge Technology and Global Innovation

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement that the roundtable highlighted cutting-edge sectors such as AI, quantum computing, biotechnology, and semiconductors. The CEOs engaged with PM Modi on the evolving global technology landscape and its potential impact on human development and economic progress.

PM Modi emphasized India’s AI policy, rooted in promoting ‘AI for All’, with a focus on the ethical and responsible use of AI. He also reassured the CEOs of India’s commitment to intellectual property protection and fostering a conducive environment for technology-led innovation.

India’s Startup Ecosystem and Economic Potential

The discussion also explored opportunities for investment in India’s growing startup ecosystem, where technological innovations are accelerating rapidly. PM Modi encouraged the business leaders to capitalize on India’s growth trajectory, pointing out the nation’s potential to become the third-largest economy globally.

MIT Professor Anantha Chandrakasan, who chaired the session, expressed gratitude to PM Modi and the CEOs for their contributions, affirming MIT’s commitment to advancing global collaboration in critical technology sectors.

The roundtable reflected growing optimism among American tech leaders about India’s expanding role in the global tech space, particularly in sectors that have the potential to revolutionize economies and enhance human development.
