Srinagar: Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modiduring a rally in Srinagar, accusing him of focusing more on his ‘Mann ki Baat’ broadcasts rather than addressing critical issues affecting the country. Gandhi emphasized that the Prime Minister has been silent on topics like unemployment and rising prices.
“Modi only talks about his Mann ki Baat, but not about the kaam ki baat, which should include providing jobs and controlling prices,” Gandhi said, directly addressing the crowd.
Shifting Political Atmosphere
Referring to the changing political landscape, Rahul Gandhi pointed out that the once-prominent narrative around Modi’s ’56-inch chest’ has faded as the INDIA alliance and Congress gain momentum. “These days, PM Modi’s face has changed, his mood has changed, and this is because of the INDIA alliance, Congress party, and the people of this country,” Gandhi stated.
Unemployment and Division Accusations
Gandhi also took the opportunity to criticize the government’s handling of unemployment, claiming that educated youth are struggling to find jobs under Modi’s leadership. “This is Narendra Modi’s gift—rising unemployment across the country,” he said.
Further, the Congress leader accused the BJP and PM Modi of creating division and spreading hatred. “In the past 10 years, wherever PM Modi and BJP go, they spread hatred. They make brothers fight each other, religions fight each other,” he added.
Jammu and Kashmir Statehood
Gandhi expressed strong opposition to the downgrading of Jammu and Kashmir from a state to a union territory, calling it a violation of the region’s democratic rights. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve the restoration of full statehood,” he emphasized.
Upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Elections
The rally comes ahead of the second phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections on September 25. The third phase will take place on October 1, with the vote counting scheduled for October 8. As the political atmosphere intensifies, Rahul Gandhi is positioning the Congress party and the INDIA alliance as strong contenders against the ruling government.
