New Delhi: Following its third consecutive electoral victory in Haryana, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) found a sweet and humorous way to celebrate, all while poking fun at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. In a cheeky move, the BJP ordered 1 kilogram of jalebi from the Bikanervala store located in Delhi’s Connaught Place, sending it directly to the Congress headquarters at 24, Akbar Road, with the recipient’s name listed as “Jalebi for Rahul Gandhi.”

Cash on Delivery Twist

The fun didn’t stop at the delivery. The BJP opted for cash on delivery, adding another playful layer to the jibe. The order, which totaled around ₹609 including taxes, was shared widely on social media by Haryana BJP members, with a tweet caption that read, “On behalf of all the workers of Bhartiya Janata Party Haryana, Jalebi has been sent to Rahul Gandhi’s home.”

Why Jalebi? The Backstory

The BJP’s choice of jalebi was not random. During his campaign trail, Rahul Gandhi had stopped at a local shop in Haryana’s Guhana to enjoy a plate of jalebi. He then suggested that jalebi should be mass-produced in factories to reach wider audiences in India and abroad. The comment became an unexpected topic of discussion, and the BJP used it as an opportunity to troll Gandhi, pointing out that “jalebi factories do not exist.”

As the Haryana election results came in on October 8, with the BJP securing its third consecutive term, “jalebi” started trending on social media platforms. Seizing the moment, the BJP turned Gandhi’s comments into a humorous post-victory celebration.

Celebrations and More Jalebi

The BJP’s celebrations didn’t end with the delivery. Rajasthan Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Bhajanlal Sharma took the party’s jalebi enthusiasm to another level by trying his hand at making the traditional sweet himself, adding to the symbolic fun.

This light-hearted jibe from the BJP reflects their confidence and victory celebrations as they clinched a hat-trick in Haryana, but it also serves as a playful dig at Rahul Gandhi’s comment, further igniting social media discussions.
