Dhanbad: In a significant crackdown ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, the police and excise department in Dhanbad have unearthed an illegal mini liquor factory in Neemtand Madhusha village, Tundi. Acting on a confidential tip-off, the authorities raided the premises on Sunday and seized a massive stockpile of counterfeit liquor valued at ₹25 lakh. The raid resulted in the arrest of Binu Lal Tudu, who was allegedly operating the illicit factory.

According to the Assistant Commissioner of Excise, Ramlila Ravani, the raid led to the recovery of 250 cartons of fake foreign liquor, including popular brands like Imperial Blue, and 500 liters of raw spirit. Additionally, materials such as labels, bottle wrappers, corks, and packaging tools used for rebranding and refilling the counterfeit alcohol were also found on-site. The illicit liquor was allegedly being prepared for illegal distribution during the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections.

Election Target Behind the Counterfeit Liquor Operation

Authorities revealed that the counterfeit liquor was intended to be circulated during the election period, indicating a plan to influence voters or engage in illegal trade. The raid team, which included officials from the excise department and Tundi police, acted swiftly to dismantle the operation. The arrested suspect, Binu Lal Tudu, is currently being interrogated to uncover more details about the network involved in this illegal activity.

The team led by excise officers Sub-Inspectors Jitendra Kumar, Joy Hembrom, Kuldeep Kumar, and Tundi Police Station in-charge, Inspector Umashankar, carried out the operation under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Madhavi Mishra and SSP HP Janardhanan. Their coordinated efforts are part of a broader campaign to curb the illegal sale and distribution of liquor in the lead-up to the elections.
