Ranchi: The Hemant Soren government in Jharkhand has finalized its cabinet with the swearing-in of 11 ministers. The composition of the cabinet showcases an effort to address caste equations, with representation from Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), minorities, and Scheduled Castes (SC). However, the absence of upper-caste representation has drawn attention.
In the cabinet, four ministers are from the ST category: Deepak Birua, Chamra Linda, Ramdas Soren, and Shilpi Neha Tirkey. The OBC category is represented by Sanjay Prasad Yadav, Deepika Pandey Singh, Yogendra Prasad, and Sudivya Kumar Sonu. Two ministers, Dr. Irfan Ansari and Hafizul Hasan, represent the minority community, while Radhakrishna Kishore has been included from the SC category.
Regional Representation Ensured
Efforts have also been made to balance regional representation across the state’s five divisions. Santhal Pargana has the highest representation, with four ministers: Hafizul Hasan from Madhupur, Dr. Irfan Ansari from Jamtara, Deepika Pandey Singh from Mahagama, and Sanjay Prasad Yadav from Godda. Chief Minister Hemant Soren also hails from this region.
From the Palamu division, Congress legislator Radhakrishna Kishore has been included. Kolhan division is represented by Ramdas Soren and Deepak Birua, while South Chotanagpur has Chamra Linda and Shilpi Neha Tirkey. Sudivya Kumar Sonu and Yogendra Prasad represent the Koylanchal region in the cabinet.
