Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court, while hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by the Bhumi Adhigrahan Visthapit Evam Punarvas Kisan Samiti, directed the issuance of a contempt notice against the state’s Chief Secretary for failing to comply with a previous court order.
During the hearing on Monday, the court inquired whether its earlier orders had been followed. Advocate Abhay Mishra, representing the petitioner, informed the court that the order had not been implemented, prompting the bench to express displeasure and instruct the issuance of the notice.

The PIL alleged irregularities in the mining department, stating that a single individual has been appointed to two positions, violating established regulations. The matter was heard by a bench led by the Chief Justice.
