The meeting reaffirmed the deepening India-US partnership, focusing on trade, defense, and strategic cooperation.

“Modi Puts India First”: Trump

During the meeting, Trump acknowledged Modi’s dedication to India’s national interests, stating that he always learns something valuable from him. Their strong camaraderie was evident as they exchanged warm greetings, revisited old photographs, and shared smiles. Trump assured Modi of continued friendship and gifted him the book “Our Journey Together.” In response, PM Modi invited Trump to visit India.

“India-US Friendship Will Grow Stronger”: Modi

Following the meeting, PM Modi posted on X (formerly Twitter), calling his discussion with President Trump “excellent.” He expressed confidence that their talks would provide new momentum to the India-US partnership. Referring to Trump’s “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) slogan, Modi stated, “In India, we are working towards a ‘Developed India,’ which in the American context means ‘Make India Great Again’ (MIGA). Together, we are building a mega partnership for global prosperity.”

IMEC Agreement: A Landmark Initiative

A major highlight of the meeting was the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) agreement. Trump called it a historic milestone in global trade, envisioning a corridor connecting India, the Gulf region, Israel, Italy, and the US. The project aims to enhance connectivity through rail and road networks, boosting economic cooperation and facilitating massive investments.

India to Acquire F-35 Fighter Jets

Trump also confirmed an expansion in the sale of F-35 stealth fighter jets to India, strengthening defense ties between the two nations. He reiterated America’s commitment to the Quad partnership for maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. Additionally, discussions on energy security took place, ensuring India’s uninterrupted access to oil and gas supplies.

Through this visit, PM Modi and President Trump have reinforced their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, advancing economic collaboration, and ensuring strategic stability on a global scale.
