New Delhi/Ranchi: The Supreme Court is set to hear a petition challenging the CBI investigation into coal theft and police involvement in Dhanbad on February 24. According to the Supreme Court’s website, the case has been listed for hearing before the bench of Justice Sandeep Mehta.
Background of the Case
The case was first heard by the Supreme Court on October 18, during which the top court had stayed the Jharkhand High Court’s order directing a CBI probe into coal theft and alleged police involvement in Dhanbad.
With the CBI probe on hold, the investigation into alleged coal theft and police complicity in the Dhanbad regionremains paused. The upcoming hearing will determine whether the CBI probe will continue or if the High Court’s order will be quashed.
