New Delhi: A fresh wave of bomb threats sent shockwaves across Delhi on Friday morning, as more than 20 schools reportedly received threatening emails warning of potential blasts. Among the institutions that received the threats were Richmond Global School in Paschim Vihar and Abhinav Public School in Rohini Sector 3.

Chaos and panic among students, parents and staff

Following the alerts, Delhi Police, bomb disposal squads, and fire department teams rushed to the affected schools. Security checks were immediately initiated, and many schools were evacuated as a precaution. Classes were suspended until further notice. The incident triggered panic and anxiety among students, their families, and school staff across the capital.

Atishi targets BJP: “Four engines, but no safety for kids”

Former Delhi education minister and senior AAP leader Atishi Marlena strongly criticized the BJP-led administration, raising serious concerns about student safety in the national capital. Taking to social media platform X, she wrote, “Today, more than 20 schools have received bomb threats! Just imagine the trauma faced by children, parents and teachers. BJP controls all four engines of power in Delhi – the Centre, LG, Delhi Police and MCD – yet they have failed to provide basic safety to our children. This is shocking.” Her remarks referred to what AAP calls the “four-engine BJP government” controlling Delhi’s governance.

Fourth such threat in a week

This is the fourth bomb threat email targeting schools and colleges in Delhi this week. On July 14, 11 schools and a college had received similar threats. Again, on July 15 and 16, several institutions were targeted with alarming emails. The pattern suggests a coordinated attempt by miscreants or criminal elements to spread fear among citizens.

Similar threat received a month ago

It’s worth noting that a similar incident occurred a month earlier when Scientist Defence College in Delhi University’s North Campus received a bomb threat. While no students were present at the time due to vacations, the staff was safely evacuated.

Police and cyber cell on high alert

The Delhi Police cyber cell is currently investigating the origin of the emails to trace those behind the threats. So far, no explosive devices have been recovered from any school premises, but authorities are treating every email with utmost seriousness and conducting thorough sweeps.
