New Delhi: The Election Commission has officially removed cricketer Rinku Singh from his role as a brand ambassador for the voter awareness campaign. A directive has been issued to withdraw all promotional materials featuring him, including banners, posters, videos, and digital advertisements. The commission has also notified the district administration regarding this development.

Engagement With SP MP Cited as Reason

Rinku Singh recently got engaged to Priya Saroj, the Samajwadi Party MP from Machhlishahr in Jaunpur. Citing this engagement, the Election Commission expressed concerns over potential political bias. It stated that Rinku Singh’s association with a sitting MP could be interpreted as a political affiliation, which would conflict with the neutrality required for voter awareness initiatives.

All Publicity Materials to Be Withdrawn

The Election Commission has directed that all content associated with Rinku Singh, in his former capacity as brand ambassador, be removed promptly. This includes all forms of campaign media to maintain impartiality in the electoral process.
