Ranchi: Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi has raised serious concerns about the medical profession following a shocking incident at a private hospital in Ranchi. According to his social media post, a newborn was allegedly kept on a ventilator for four days after being declared dead, with the hospital continuing to charge the grieving family.

Postmortem Confirms Infant Was Already Dead

Babulal stated that the postmortem report confirmed the child had died earlier, yet hospital staff misled the family into believing the baby was still alive. They allegedly kept the body on life support and issued a hefty bill in the name of treatment. He condemned the act as not only unethical but deeply inhumane, claiming it has tarnished the dignity of the medical profession and cruelly exploited a mourning family.

DC Orders Probe, Assures Action

Reacting to the public outrage, Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri took swift cognizance of the matter and ordered an investigation. A special inquiry committee has been formed, including the Executive Magistrate, District Social Welfare Officer, and a panel of medical experts. The DC has assured strict legal action if negligence or wrongdoing by the hospital is confirmed, promising a transparent and thorough probe.
