New Delhi: Tension flared at Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s first public appearance since the attack on her two days ago, after a man created chaos at an event in Gandhinagar. The incident, which took place during the inauguration of Vastrika, a garment market exhibition, raised security concerns but did not deter the Chief Minister from continuing her speech.
Man Escorted Out Amid Slogans
The disruption began when a man, later claiming to be a BJP worker, shouted slogans—first in support of the Chief Minister and then against another person. Alert police officials immediately removed him from the venue. The man’s identity and political links are yet to be officially confirmed, and the police have not released a formal statement regarding the incident.
CM Gupta’s Vow to Work Fearlessly
Despite the commotion, Chief Minister Gupta addressed the gathering, reiterating her commitment to cleaning the Yamuna River and improving infrastructure in the Yamunapar area. She promised the installation of water and sewer pipelines, parking facilities, and public toilets, while assuring citizens that she “will not be afraid, will not get tired, will not lose.” Gandhinagar MLA Arvind Singh Lovely was also present at the event.
Heightened Security After Recent Attack
The incident comes just days after Gupta was assaulted during a grievance redressal programme at her residence. The attacker was later identified as a man upset over the Supreme Court’s recent order on stray dogs. Following the attack, the Chief Minister has been granted ‘Z’ category VIP security with CRPF protection.
