India’s women’s cricket captain Harmanpreet Kaur delivered an emotional message ahead of the Women’s World Cup final against South Africa, saying her team has endured heartbreak in the past but is now ready to embrace the feeling of victory. The much-anticipated clash at DY Patil Stadium on Sunday will see a new world champion crowned, joining the ranks of Australia, England, and New Zealand.

‘We Are Ready To Feel The Joy Of Winning’

Speaking to reporters on the eve of the final, Harmanpreet said, “We know how it feels to lose. But we are looking forward to how it feels to win. Hopefully, tomorrow is a special day for us. We have done a lot of hard work, and now it’s only about putting everything together for the team.” She added that the squad’s unity and positivity have been crucial in their journey, noting, “Whenever we have enjoyed and given our best, we always get positive results.”

India Chases Maiden Global Glory

This marks India’s third appearance in a Women’s ODI World Cup final, following heartbreaks in 1998 and 2017. The team also narrowly missed gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, losing to Australia. Reflecting on these moments, Harman said, “When you are at a stage like a World Cup final, there cannot be any bigger motivation. The team is charged up, players are supporting each other, and that shows how ready we are.”

A New Era For Women’s Cricket

Excited about the final featuring two new finalists, Harmanpreet noted, “It’s good that there are two different teams. We have seen Australia and England dominate world cricket for so many years. This time, the excitement is different.” As the nation eagerly awaits the outcome, Harmanpreet and her team are determined to turn past heartbreak into a moment of history.
