New Delhi: Security agencies recovered a huge cache — about 350 kg of suspected ammonium nitrate explosives, timers and an assault rifle near the national capital after questioning a Kashmiri doctor allegedly linked to pro-terror posters in Srinagar; a second doctor in Faridabad has also been arrested as the probe expands.

Explosives and Arms Recovery

Police say the haul from Faridabad, Haryana, included roughly 350 kg of explosives, 20 timers, a pistol with three magazines, an assault rifle (linked to a locker search at a Jammu & Kashmir medical college), and a walkie-talkie set. Officials suspect the explosive material to be ammonium nitrate; preliminary answers are being sought on how such a large quantity was stored and moved so close to the national capital without detection.

Arrests and Investigation

Investigators tied the seizure to Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather, who was arrested in Saharanpur after CCTV footage showed him affixing posters backing Jaish-e-Mohammed in Srinagar on October 27. Rather, who worked at Government Medical College, Anantnag until last year, disclosed information during questioning that led to the Faridabad recovery and the arrest of Mujammil Shakeel, a Pulwama-origin doctor employed at Al-Falah Hospital in Faridabad. Charges include the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act; probes continue to determine the intended plan and any wider network involvement.
