Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court on Monday heard a contempt petition filed by former councillor Roshni Khalkhoseeking timely municipal elections in the state. During the proceedings, the state government informed the court that it has already submitted the notification and triple test report to the State Election Commission (SEC).

Election Commission Seeks More Time

The State Election Commission told the court that determining reservation for Backward Class-I and II (BC-I, BC-II)was taking additional time and requested three more months to complete the process. However, the court rejected this plea and ordered the SEC to appear in the next hearing with a definite election date.

Next Hearing Scheduled for November 24

The bench of Justice Ananda Sen directed the Commission to expedite the process and make the election schedule public. The next hearing in the matter has been fixed for November 24, 2025. The petitioner was represented by Advocate Vinod Singh, while the state’s case was presented by the Advocate General.
