Jharkhand Utilises Only 39.57% Of Budget So Far, Major Departments Lag Behind

Ranchi: Jharkhand has spent only 39.57% of its total budget for the financial year 2025–26, raising concerns about utilising the remaining 60% within the next four months. The state’s total budget stands at ₹1,45,400 crore, of which ₹58,118 crore has been spent so far. Central schemes show particularly slow progress with just 21.50% utilisation, while 42.25% of the state-plan funds have been used.

Departments With Highest And Lowest Spending

Among all departments, the Women and Child Development Department leads with an expenditure of ₹12,167.60 crore. It is followed by the Home Department at ₹4,724.20 crore and the Energy Department at ₹4,386.61 crore. Other key spenders include Rural Works (₹2,825.26 crore), Rural Development (₹2,714.49 crore), and Health (₹2,574.77 crore). Several departments, however, remain far behind, such as JPSC (₹12.16 crore), Mines (₹21.08 crore), and Transport (₹16.78 crore).

Agriculture has spent ₹557.60 crore, Animal Husbandry ₹109.84 crore, Building Construction ₹346.48 crore, Cabinet ₹64.89 crore, Governor’s Secretariat ₹7.89 crore, Food Supplies ₹470.40 crore, Forest & Environment ₹508.83 crore, Higher Education ₹984.81 crore, Labour ₹756.71 crore, Drinking Water ₹323.88 crore, Road Construction ₹1,858.25 crore, Tourism ₹42.80 crore, Urban Development ₹567.81 crore, Water Resources ₹1,116.06 crore, and Panchayati Raj ₹280.49 crore, among others.
