Washington: Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, US President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to Iran, saying that any attempt to block oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz would trigger attacks “20 times stronger” than previous strikes.
Trump Issues Strong Military Warning
Trump said that if Iran tries to halt the flow of oil through the crucial maritime route, the United States would destroy targets that could be easily eliminated, making it extremely difficult for Iran to rebuild as a nation. He warned that such a situation would unleash “death, fire and fury” on Iran.
However, Trump also expressed hope that such a scenario would not occur and said he was praying that the situation does not escalate further.
Impact On Global Oil Supply
The US President also claimed that decisive action by Washington would benefit countries that depend heavily on oil shipments passing through the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, such a move would be seen as a “gift” to China and other nations importing large volumes of oil through the route, as it would ensure uninterrupted supply.
Why Strait Of Hormuz Is Crucial
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important oil transit routes. A significant portion of crude oil exported from Gulf countries passes through this narrow waterway to reach global markets.
Any disruption in oil shipments through the strait could severely affect global energy markets and impact the economies of many countries, including India, which relies heavily on imported crude oil.
Conflict Escalates Since Late February
The conflict intensified after the United States and Israel launched “Operation Epic Fury” against Iran on February 28. Since then, multiple strikes have reportedly targeted Iranian military locations.
Reports suggest that more than 1,500 people have been killed in the attacks. There have also been claims that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and members of his family were killed during the strikes.
Iran has responded with retaliatory attacks targeting Israel and other locations in the Middle East, further increasing tensions across the region.
