New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a reward of ₹131 crore for Team India after their historic victory in the T20 World Cup 2026. The announcement was made on March 10 following India’s dominant win over New Zealand in the final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

India Defeats New Zealand To Lift Title

India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the final played on March 8 to claim the world championship title. The BCCI congratulated the players, support staff, and selectors for the remarkable achievement and expressed confidence that the team would continue delivering strong performances in the future.

The announced prize money of ₹131 crore will be distributed among the players, coaching staff, and selection committee.

Higher Reward Compared To Previous World Cup

The reward amount is higher than the prize given after India’s T20 World Cup 2024 victory under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, when the BCCI had awarded ₹125 crore to the team. This time, the board has increased the reward by ₹6 crore to celebrate the team’s latest success.

India Creates Historic Records

With this victory, India has become the first team in history to win the T20 World Cup three times, having previously lifted the trophy in 2007 and 2024. The win also makes India the first team to secure back-to-back T20 World Cup titles.

Before this, West Indies and England had each won the tournament twice.

ICC Prize Money For The Tournament

Apart from the BCCI reward, the International Cricket Council (ICC) also awarded significant prize money. India received $3 million (around ₹27.48 crore) for winning the title, while runner-up New Zealand earned $1.6 million (around ₹14.7 crore).

Teams also received bonuses for each match won during the group stage and Super 8 rounds, with approximately ₹28.6 lakh awarded per victory. The total prize pool for the T20 World Cup 2026 stood at $13.5 million, about 20 percent higher than the previous edition.
