The Indian Premier League is known for explosive batting and towering sixes, but surprisingly, a few players have played in the tournament without hitting a single six in any season. As IPL 2026 prepares to begin on March 28, cricket fans are expecting plenty of big hits, yet some notable players in the league’s history never managed to clear the boundary for a six despite playing multiple matches.
Mitchell Starc Tops The Unusual List
Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc is one of the most prominent names on this list. Starc has played 52 IPL matches and scored 111 runs, hitting 11 fours but not a single six. Despite having the ability to hit big shots in other formats, the left-arm pacer never managed to send the ball over the ropes in the IPL. His strike rate in the league stands at 93.27.
Michael Clarke Also Failed To Hit A Six
Former Australian captain Michael Clarke also appears on the list. Clarke played for Pune Warriors in the 2012 IPL season and scored 98 runs in six innings. However, during his brief IPL stint, he did not hit a single six before his league career ended.
Callum Ferguson’s Six-Less IPL Record
Australian batter Callum Ferguson also featured in the IPL for Pune Warriors. He played nine matches and scored 98 runs with a strike rate of around 83. Despite being a recognized batter, Ferguson could not register a six during his time in the tournament.
Lee Carseldine’s Short IPL Stint
Former Australian all-rounder Lee Andrew Carseldine represented Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. In five matches, he scored 81 runs but did not manage to hit a six during his appearances in the league.
Nitin Saini And Michael Klinger Also On The List
Wicketkeeper-batter Nitin Saini, who played for Punjab Kings in the 2012 season, scored 140 runs in 10 matches without hitting a six. Similarly, Australian opener Michael Klinger played four matches for Kochi Tuskers Kerala and scored 73 runs, but he too never cleared the boundary for a six in the IPL.
