Bogota: A Colombian Air Force Lockheed C-130 Hercules aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff, leading to a major tragedy with reports suggesting around 110 military personnel lost their lives in the incident.
Aircraft Crashed Moments After Takeoff
Defense Minister Pedro Sanchez confirmed that the दुर्घटना occurred in the Puerto Leguizamo area of Putumayo. The aircraft reportedly crashed immediately after takeoff while carrying a large number of military personnel.
Over 120 People Were Onboard
According to Air Force Commander Carlos Fernando Silva, the aircraft had a total of 125 people onboard, including 114 passengers and 11 crew members. The crash resulted in heavy casualties, making it one of the deadliest aviation incidents in recent times.
Rescue Operations Underway
Rescue teams rushed to the site soon after the crash. So far, 48 individuals have been rescued alive, while efforts continue to locate survivors and recover victims. Firefighting operations were also carried out to control the blaze.
Investigation Into Cause Of Crash
Authorities have sealed off the area and launched an investigation to determine whether the crash was caused by technical failure, human error, or other factors. Officials have assured that a high-level probe will be conducted.
