New Delhi: The central government has dismissed rumours of a nationwide lockdown amid rising panic over fuel and LPG shortages, urging citizens not to believe misinformation and avoid panic buying.

Government Rejects Lockdown Claims

Amid the ongoing West Asia crisis, misinformation about a possible lockdown similar to the COVID-19 period began circulating on social media, causing anxiety among citizens. Addressing the issue, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri clarified that the government is not considering any such move. He urged people to remain calm, act responsibly, and stay united during the situation.

Ministers Urge Public To Avoid Panic Buying

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also termed the lockdown reports as completely misleading and advised people not to pay attention to such rumours. He highlighted that the government has already reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel to provide relief to the public. Authorities reiterated that the situation is under control and appealed to citizens not to hoard fuel or cooking gas unnecessarily.
