Ranchi: Jharkhand is set to face an intense rise in temperature over the coming days, with the Meteorological Centre in Ranchi warning of heatwave conditions in several districts on April 17. Day temperatures may increase by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius across the state.
Heatwave Alert Issued
The weather department has issued a special alert for April 17, predicting strong chances of heatwave conditions in many regions except parts of north-eastern and adjoining central Jharkhand.
Residents have been advised to take precautions and avoid unnecessary exposure during peak afternoon hours.
Temperatures Rising Across State
Over the last 24 hours, weather remained dry statewide. The highest maximum temperature was recorded in Daltonganj at 39.8°C. Jamshedpur registered 39.0°C, while Saraikela touched 39.7°C.
The lowest minimum temperature was reported in Gumla at 16.8°C.
Ranchi May Touch 40°C
According to forecasts, Ranchi may reach 40°C by April 17. Jamshedpur and Daltonganj are also likely to cross the 40-degree mark.
Chance of Light Rain in Some Areas
Some north-eastern districts including Sahibganj, Pakur, Godda, and Dumka may receive light rainfall on April 17. Partial cloud cover and thunder activity are also possible in some regions.
On April 18, light rain may occur in parts of southern Jharkhand.
Public Advisory
Officials have urged people to stay hydrated, drink plenty of water, and avoid stepping out during the hottest hours of the day. Dry weather and mostly clear skies are expected in most areas of the state until April 20.
