Chennai Super Kings fans may have to wait longer to see MS Dhoni on the field in IPL 2026, as the latest team update suggests his comeback is still uncertain due to a calf injury.
Coach Gives Fresh Update
CSK head coach Stephen Fleming said Dhoni’s calf injury is serious and recovery is not easy. He revealed the pain increased during a warm-up match, which delayed his return further.
According to Fleming, Dhoni pushed himself hard in pre-season practice, which aggravated the earlier injury.
Fans Had Hoped for Quick Comeback
Dhoni has been with the CSK squad since early March. Videos of him batting and wicketkeeping in the nets had raised hopes among fans that he would return soon. However, the latest update indicates more waiting is likely.
Missed Eight Matches So Far
The 44-year-old veteran has not featured in any of CSK’s first eight matches this season. His continued absence shows the seriousness of the injury.
Final Decision Will Be Dhoni’s
Fleming added that the final call on Dhoni’s return will be taken by the player himself. He is currently working closely with physiotherapists to recover fully before stepping back into competition.
