Strong Winds and Rain Lash Jharkhand, Bad Weather to Continue for Four Days

Ranchi: Jharkhand has been hit by heavy rain accompanied by strong winds since Thursday afternoon, with the meteorological department warning that unsettled weather will persist across the state for the next four days, bringing thunderstorms and lightning risks to most districts.

Recent Rainfall and Temperature Data

In the past 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall was recorded across several parts of the state. Jagannathpur in West Singhbhum received the highest rainfall at 35.5 mm. Maximum temperatures in Jamshedpur and Daltonganj reached 36.2°C, while the lowest minimum temperature of 17.4°C was recorded in Namkum.

Yellow Alert for May 7 and 8

The weather department has issued a yellow alert for May 7 and 8 covering most districts of the state except Garhwa, Chatra, Palamu, and Latehar. Winds of 40 to 50 km/h along with thunder and lightning are expected in Hazaribagh, Koderma, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Ranchi, Lohardaga, Gumla, Khunti, East and West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Simdega, Sahibganj, Pakur, Godda, Dumka, Deoghar, Jamtara, and Giridih.

Conditions to Worsen on May 9 and 10

Weather is expected to deteriorate further on May 9 and 10, with wind speeds potentially reaching 50 to 60 km/h. On May 9, strong storms and thunder are likely to affect Dhanbad, Bokaro, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Khunti, Gumla, and northeastern and southern districts. On May 10, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Khunti, Lohardaga, and Gumla remain under risk of strong winds and lightning strikes.

Ranchi Forecast for Coming Days

Ranchi and surrounding areas will see partly cloudy skies with rain or thunder likely over the next five days. The maximum temperature on May 7 is expected at 33°C with a minimum of 20°C. Between May 8 and 11, maximum temperatures are likely to range between 30 and 33°C and minimums between 20 and 21°C. A drop of 2 to 3°C in maximum temperatures is expected after two days, bringing some relief from the heat.
