Suvendu Adhikari’s First Cabinet Takes Six Key Decisions Including Border Fencing and Central Schemes

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari chaired his first cabinet meeting on Monday, taking six significant decisions that include land acquisition for border fencing and implementation of central government schemes in the state.

Key Appointments Made

Before the cabinet meeting, retired IAS officer Subrata Gupta was appointed as Chief Minister Adhikari’s advisor, two days after being relieved from his post as special observer by the Election Commission. IAS officer Shantanu Bala of the 2017 batch, who previously served as Additional District Magistrate of South 24 Parganas, was appointed as the Chief Minister’s private secretary.

Border Fencing Land Transfer Begins

CM Suvendu Adhikari announced that the process of transferring land to BSF in border areas for border security fencing has been initiated from Monday itself, with the government committed to completing the transfer process within 45 days.

Ayushman Bharat and Other Central Schemes to Be Launched

The cabinet decided to roll out the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Bengal, along with the Jan Arogya Yojana and other Prime Minister schemes, which will be implemented in the state soon. The cabinet also authorised the Chief Secretary to take steps to initiate central government training for national and state cadre officers.

Probe for 321 Deaths During Political Struggle

CM Adhikari said that for the 321 people who lost their lives during the political struggle, the government will conduct an investigation if their families wish to pursue it.

CM Assures Development Under Double-Engine Government

After the meeting, CM Suvendu Adhikari said the discussions were productive and assured the people of Bengal that all development-related work would be completed under the double-engine government. He also expressed gratitude to voters, the Election Commission, central security forces, police officers, observers, and all political parties.
