Almora: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi could not reach Almora in Uttarakhand on Thursday due to bad weather grounding his helicopter at Pantnagar, but he addressed the gathering by mobile phone, launching a sharp attack on Prime Minister Modi over foreign policy, economic decisions, and governance.
Bad Weather Forces Phone Address
Gandhi told the crowd that he had been forced to return to Pantnagar due to adverse weather conditions but assured them he would visit soon. Despite being unable to attend in person, he delivered a full political address to the Almora gathering over the phone.
Uttarakhand Being Run by Remote Control From Delhi
Recalling the vision behind the creation of Uttarakhand as a state, Gandhi said the idea was for people to control their own future. He alleged that today the state is being run by remote control from Delhi and that Uttarakhand’s natural resources are being plundered without local benefit.
Modi Surrendered to Trump, Says Rahul
Gandhi launched a strong attack on the government’s foreign policy, alleging that PM Modi has surrendered before the United States. He claimed that India can now only buy oil from countries approved by America, arguing that Modi works not for the Indian people but for the US and billionaires like Ambani and Adani.
Demonetisation, GST and Farm Policy Attacked
Gandhi accused the Modi government of breaking India’s economic backbone, alleging that demonetisation robbed people of their savings and a flawed GST structure destroyed small businesses. He also alleged that the BJP government has dismantled the agriculture and education systems, and warned that the Iran-America conflict is now causing an economic tsunami for India.
