Ranchi: Several eye and ENT surgeries at the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology (RIO) within RIMS had to be postponed after the air conditioning system broke down, causing significant inconvenience to patients. RIMS management has now decided to file an FIR against the agency responsible for the AC operations.
Agency Deliberately Shut Down AC, Alleges RIMS
The AC operations at RIO were entrusted to Suvidha Shinryo Pvt. Ltd., which also handles AC services at the Oncology and Superspeciality blocks. RIMS management stated that the work order process was underway and the agency had been duly informed via email. Despite this, the agency allegedly shut down the AC system intentionally, disrupting essential medical services at the hospital.
Management Team Rushed to Assess Situation
Upon learning of the breakdown, a team comprising the Medical Superintendent, Estate Officer, DMS-II, and Hospital Manager rushed to the site. The inquiry revealed that the Eye and ENT departments had recently been shifted to the RIO building, causing delays in completing the tendering process for AC operations.
Alternative Arrangement Put in Place Immediately
To provide immediate relief to patients, RIMS management assigned AC operations at RIO to an agency currently handling the same work at the Trauma Centre, selected by Building Division No. 2, Ranchi. A decision has also been taken to file an FIR against the defaulting agency.
Nodal Officers Appointed for RIO Oversight
To ensure smooth functioning going forward, RIMS management has appointed HOD Eye as Centre Head, Dr Mukesh Kumar Neeraj as Admin Nodal, Hiramani Sisilia Kujur as Nursing Nodal, and Kritika Verma as Hospital Manager for RIO.
Zero Tolerance Policy Declared
RIMS management made it clear that a zero tolerance policy will be enforced against any agency or institution that disrupts medical services for patients, and strict action will be taken in all such cases.
