Paris: A small plane belonging to a parachutist school crashed in the northeastern French town of Tomblaine on Sunday, killing all 11 people on board including the pilot, five students, and five instructors, according to the local prefecture.
Aircraft Plunged Vertically Before Crashing
Regional Prefect Yves Seguy told broadcaster BFM that the aircraft appeared to suffer damage before plunging vertically to the ground. The crash occurred in a built-up area near a shopping centre, with Seguy noting that the plane came down just metres away from causing casualties among the general public.
French Interior Minister on His Way to Scene
The French Interior Ministry confirmed that the Interior Minister was heading to the crash site. The local prosecutor had not responded to requests for comment at the time of reporting. This is a developing story.
