Mumbai: Heavy monsoon rainfall has brought Mumbai to a standstill, with most parts of the city submerged, roads resembling ponds, and residents confined to their homes. The Andheri subway has been shut due to waterlogging, while Mumbai’s lifeline local train services have also been severely disrupted.
Several Areas Among Worst Affected
Rain lashed the city through Sunday night, with Vile Parle, Santacruz, Bandra, Juhu, Versova, Andheri, Khar, Malad, and Goregaon among the worst-hit areas. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation confirmed that the Western Express Highway is also waterlogged, with vehicles moving at a crawl. Authorities have appealed to residents to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.
Andheri Subway Closure Hits Lakhs of Commuters
The Andheri subway, through which thousands of vehicles pass daily, has been closed due to severe waterlogging. Its closure has impacted lakhs of people who depend on it as a key route, adding to the chaos already caused by disrupted local train services.
