New Delhi: Congress MPs along with opposition leaders, led by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, arrived at Parliament House on Wednesday dressed in black, staging a protest against the Modi government over irregularities in the NEET examination and paper leak issues affecting exams across the country.

MPs Protest at Makar Dwar, Demand Pradhan’s Resignation

The opposition MPs held their demonstration near the Makar Dwar entrance of the Parliament complex, demanding reforms in the education system and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Speaking to the media, Priyanka Gandhi, who arrived dressed in black, said the party stood against violence and that their ideology did not tolerate it, while extending support to the student movement and asserting that the students’ demands were legitimate and that they had every right to seek their rights.

Priyanka Gandhi Says Peaceful Protest Should Not Be Suppressed

Attacking the government over the paper leak issue, Priyanka Gandhi said peaceful protest should not be curbed through undemocratic means, adding that the demonstration was aimed at drawing the government’s attention to a sensitive issue directly tied to students’ futures.

Congress MPs Condemn Police Action Against Protesters

Congress MP Syed Nasir Hussain said opposition MPs had worn black clothing to protest against police action taken against demonstrating students and lawmakers. He added that the opposition’s demand was for the government to abandon its rigid stance and engage in dialogue with students while fixing the education system. Congress MP Pramod Tiwari expressed outrage over the lathi-charge on students on July 20, alleging that policemen without name tags had carried out the attack, and questioned whether the Leader of Opposition and other opposition leaders were expected to remain silent in the face of such brutality.
