As Lock Upp 2 heads towards its finale, a fresh controversy has surfaced after actor Ram Kapoor’s wife, Gautami Kapoor, visited the show during a family special episode and publicly apologised to female contestants, including Shreya Kalra, over her husband’s conduct, with the video quickly going viral on social media.
Gautami Kapoor Apologises on Ram Kapoor’s Behalf
During the episode, Gautami Kapoor first spoke with Shreya Kalra, telling her that if any of Ram’s actions had made her uncomfortable, including touching her inappropriately or repeatedly kissing her, she was apologising on his behalf. She then turned to the other female contestants in the house, saying that if any of them had felt uncomfortable due to Ram’s behaviour, she was apologising for that as well, while adding that she wasn’t defending him but that his nature was simply like that of a “teddy bear.”
Controversy Stems from Contestants’ Complaints About Ram’s Behaviour
The controversy first erupted after several female contestants on the show raised objections to Ram Kapoor’s conduct. Shreya Kalra had openly said that his repeated hugging and kissing on the forehead and cheek made her uncomfortable, adding that she would stop him if it happened again, and remarked that even her own father did not kiss her that often. In a separate episode, contestant Apoorva Mukhija also expressed her displeasure over the same behaviour, questioning why he kept kissing repeatedly and saying it was making her angry, a moment that further fuelled discussion of the issue on social media.
