Ranchi: Ranchi DC Manjunath Bhajantri has cancelled the license of Tarangini Liquors Private Limited’s bottling plant located in Ukrid village, Ormanjhi, after critical evidence, including liquor stock, essential documents and other materials, was found missing from the sealed facility.
Plant Was Illegally Producing and Storing Liquor
The case dates back to July 1, when the Excise Department and Ormanjhi police conducted a joint raid on the plant, uncovering alleged illegal liquor production and the concealment of unregistered stock within the premises. Following the raid, the plant was sealed, and former MLC Subodh Kumar Rai, along with Devendra Bhagat and Ravikant Rai, were arrested and sent to jail. Plant operator Subodh Kumar is currently out on bail.
Liquor Stock Found Missing from Sealed Facility
As per procedure, the stock and documents present in the sealed plant were required to be verified in the presence of a magistrate. However, when the seal was opened nearly a month and a half later on August 17, the back door lock was found broken, with liquor boxes, essential documents and other evidence found missing from inside, prompting the administration to take action and cancel the plant’s license.
