“Bigg Boss 20” got its first captain within the very first week, as Young DSA won the captaincy task and took charge of the house, immediately stripping Kanika Maan of one of her lifelines, while several contestants grew emotional watching a glimpse of the show’s 20-year journey.
Young DSA Wins First Captaincy Task Amid House Groupism
The captaincy task for the opening week saw a contest between Young DSA, Asif Khan and Roadies-famed Gullu, aka Kushal Tanwar, with significant groupism playing out within the house during the challenge. Gamer Scout was also seen bringing certain male contestants together during the process.
Sharp Clash Between Young DSA and Kanika Maan
The task also saw a heated exchange between Young DSA and TV actress Kanika Maan, who made it clear she would not prioritise friendship within the game, stating firmly that she would not maintain personal loyalties during the competition. Young DSA ultimately won the task, becoming the first captain of “Bigg Boss 20.”
New Captain Immediately Targets Kanika
Upon taking charge as captain, Young DSA’s first decision was to directly end one of Kanika Maan’s lifelines, a major blow for her given she was already facing nomination. Young also redistributed household chores among contestants, a move suggesting tensions between him and Kanika could escalate further in the coming days.
Contestants Grow Emotional Over Show’s 20-Year Journey
The episode’s most emotional moment came when Bigg Boss presented the housemates with highlights from the show’s 20-year history. After questioning Scout about sleeping during the day, Bigg Boss revealed that the show was not merely a reality programme but a two-decade-long story of emotions and relationships. A video montage of memorable moments, past hosts, notable fights and winners from the show’s history followed, leaving several contestants visibly moved. Mahhi Vij, Amrapali Dubey, Isha and Asif Khan were unable to hold back tears, while Olympic medallist Mary Kom also appeared emotional watching the show’s past memories.
Room Number 20 Opens, Kanika’s Photo Turned Down
Following this, Bigg Boss opened the doors of “Room Number 20” for the first time, a space displaying photographs of all Season 20 contestants. Kazi Touqeer attempted to lighten the mood with a song, but the atmosphere shifted again as, on Bigg Boss’s instructions, new captain Young DSA turned down Kanika Maan’s photograph, permanently ending one of her lifelines.
