Ranchi: The district administration has tightened security arrangements ahead of the Union Public Service Commission’s (UPSC) Combined Defence Services Examination (II) and National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2026, imposing prohibitory orders within a 200-metre radius of all examination centres in Ranchi to ensure the exam is conducted peacefully and without malpractice.

Prohibitory Order Effective September 13

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sadar Ranchi, Kumar Rajat, has issued the order under Section 163 of BNSS, which will remain in effect from 7 am to 9 pm on September 13, 2026.

Restrictions on Gatherings, Weapons and Loudspeakers

During this period, gatherings of five or more people, use of loudspeakers or sound amplification equipment, carrying weapons or items such as sticks, bows and arrows, sickles or spears, and holding any meetings or public assemblies within the 200-metre radius of exam centres will be prohibited. Government officials and staff on official duty, as well as funeral processions, have been exempted from these restrictions.

Additional Security Deployed to Prevent Disruptions

According to the district administration, magistrates, police officers and police personnel have already been deployed at examination centres. This additional step has been taken given concerns that anti-social elements could gather crowds and disrupt law and order during the exam.

21 Centres Identified Across Ranchi

Ranchi has a total of 21 examination centres for this exam, including Central Academy Bariatu, St. Aloysius High School, St. Anne’s Girls’ High School, Ursuline Inter College, Gossner High School, Firayalal Public School, St. Paul’s College, Doranda College, Gossner College, DAV Public School Kanke, Nirmala College, JMJ High School, Anita Girls’ High School, and Vivekananda Vidya Mandir Dhurwa, among others. The administration has arranged adequate security across all centres to ensure peace and law and order during the examination.
