IndiGo, one of India’s leading airlines, has raised charges across several of its additional services, a move that will directly hit the pockets of passengers who now have to pay more than before for baggage and other common facilities alongside their tickets.
Infant Tickets and Excess Baggage Charges Rise
Under the revised rates, IndiGo has increased the price of infant tickets by Rs 1,000, taking it from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000. Passengers carrying baggage beyond the permitted limit will also have to shell out more, with the excess baggage charge raised from Rs 700 per kg to Rs 800 per kg. The fee applicable for children travelling alone has also gone up, from Rs 5,000 to Rs 5,991.
Priority Check-In and Travel Certificate Fees Also Hiked
Charges for airport facilities have been revised upward as well. Passengers opting for priority check-in or boarding at the airport will now have to pay Rs 650 instead of the earlier Rs 450. Similarly, the fee for obtaining a travel certificate has been increased from Rs 200 to Rs 300. IndiGo has advised passengers to keep close track of their baggage while flying and to opt for additional services only when necessary, in order to avoid unexpected expenses.
