Ranchi: As the monsoon begins its withdrawal from Jharkhand, rainfall activity is tapering off, with the weather department forecasting rain in some parts of the state on October 1 and 2, after which dry weather is expected to set in from October 3.
Scattered Rain Expected Over Next Two Days
According to the IMD, cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely in parts of the north-western, north-eastern and adjoining central districts on October 1. Rainfall activity will ease further on October 2, with light to moderate rain expected mainly in the north-eastern districts of Deoghar, Dumka, Giridih, Godda, Jamtara, Pakur and Sahibganj.
Dry Spell to Follow from October 3
No rainfall is expected in the state from October 3 onward, with skies turning mostly clear, and the dry conditions likely to continue through October 4 and 5 as well. The weather department has not issued any warning for any district during this period.
Ranchi to See Partly Cloudy Skies, Clearing by October 3
In Ranchi, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy with chances of thunder and rain on October 1, continuing to be cloudy but with lower rain chances on October 2. Skies are expected to turn largely clear from October 3 to 5, with maximum temperatures hovering around 30 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius during this period.
Seasonal Rainfall Stands Close to Normal Across the State
Jharkhand recorded 1,005.7 mm of rainfall between June 1 and September 29, around 1 percent below normal. While Ranchi received 19 percent more rainfall than normal and West Singhbhum recorded 48 percent surplus rain, Pakur saw a 52 percent deficit and Chatra recorded 36 percent less rainfall than normal.
