Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court on Thursday heard a petition seeking to quash an FIR registered under the SC-ST Act against officials of the Enforcement Directorate, and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on respondent no. 2 after they sought six weeks’ time to respond.
Four Weeks Granted to File Response, Next Hearing on November 2
The court granted respondent no. 2 four weeks to file their reply and fixed November 2 as the next date of hearing. It directed that the fine amount be deposited with the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA). Senior advocate Amit Kumar Das and advocate Saurabh Kumar represented the ED in the matter.
Background of the Case
The petition has been filed by former ED officials Kapil Raj, Devvrat Jha and others, seeking the quashing of the FIR registered against them. The case was originally filed at Ranchi’s SC-ST police station against ED officials Kapil Raj, Devvrat Jha, Anupam Kumar, Aman Patel and other unidentified persons.
