Ranchi: To strengthen government healthcare services in Jharkhand, 306 specialist doctors will be recruited, with the online application process beginning on October 8, 2026 and candidates able to apply until 11:59 pm on October 31, 2026.
200 Health Department and 106 NHM Posts on Offer
The recruitment covers two categories of posts. The health department will appoint 200 non-teaching Specialist Medical Officers, while 106 Specialist Medical Officer posts will be filled under the National Health Mission (NHM). Specialists in anaesthesia, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, paediatrics, dermatology, ENT, radiology, general medicine, psychiatry and surgery, among other disciplines, can apply, and some posts will also be filled by pathology and forensic science specialists.
Eligibility Criteria and Age Limit
Applicants must hold an MBBS degree along with a postgraduate degree or diploma in the relevant subject from a recognised institution, and must have valid registration with the concerned medical council. For both categories, the minimum age is 23 years and the maximum is 64 years, calculated as of October 31, 2026.
Appointments on Contract Basis
The 200 non-teaching Specialist Medical Officer posts in the health department will be filled on a contractual basis, while the 106 doctors under NHM will be appointed for various health programmes. Selected doctors will be posted at locations specified in the respective advertisements.
