Lucknow: An IndiGo flight (6E 925) flying from Patna to Ahmedabad was struck by lightning on Wednesday evening and made a safe emergency landing at Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, with about 170 passengers on board.
Lightning Hits the Nose at 17,000 Feet
According to available information, the aircraft was flying at an altitude of roughly 17,000 feet when lightning struck its nose section, which was left completely dented.
Pilot’s Presence of Mind Averts Danger
The pilot kept his composure, diverted the aircraft towards Lucknow, and after coordinating with air traffic control, landed it safely at the airport.
Passengers Offered Alternatives or Refund
The airline said that after the flight was cancelled, passengers were given the option of travelling on another flight or taking a full refund of their tickets.
