Jamshedpur, Aug 11: As many as 21 new units will soon come up at
Jharkhand’s first Electronics Manufacturing Cluster ( EMC) at Adityapur in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district.
Advisor to Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority ( JIADA ) , formerly Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority, Ashok Bihany, who is also looking after the affairs of the ambitious Rs 186 crore EMC project said till now 30 electronics manufacturing units, mostly suppliers of automotive electronics parts to Tata Motors have been allotted land at the project site along the Tata- Kandra Road.
” Another new 21 electronic manufacturing units have been allotted land. They would come up with their units soon,” said Bihany.
The only of its kind Electronic Manufacturing Cluster was inaugurated online by Chief Minister Hemant Soren in December last year. The Covid-19 pandemic had delayed the project.
The Union government has given Rs 42 crore for the project while the Jharkhand government contributed Rs 60 crore. Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority had sanctioned Rs 50 crore for the project.
Earlier, March 2019 was the deadline for the completion of the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster which is spread in 82.49 acres of land.
For the project, JIADA, the chief promoter of the project, had signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with the department of electronics and information technology (DeitY) under the Union ministry of communications and IT.
Industry secretary Pooja Singhal heads the EMC project as chairman while regional director of JIADA, Prem Ranjan, and JIADA secretary K Paswan serves as director.
Adityapur already houses an auto cluster that benefits 700 entrepreneurs.
The newly elected president of Adityapur Small Industries Association (ASIA) Santosh Khaitan praised the project.
“Adityapur gives industries a good ecosystem and is ideally located to help entrepreneurs export their products as both ports, Paradip (Odisha) and Haldia (Bengal) are within 250-300km. The EMC project will benefit, ” he said.
