Ranchi, Aug.12: A youth was shot dead at Karam Toli Chaputand under the Kolebira police station area of the Simdega district.

The incident took place on Wednesday night when the youth, Maneshwar Nayak (35), was returning to his home at Birhor Colony near Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya after his work at a village, Bokwa, when unidentified miscreants shot at his temple and back and left him dead at the spot.

Who killed him and why has not become clear so far.

A locality resident said he used to stay with a widow for the last eight years after the death of his wife.

Superintendent of police of the district Shams Tabrez confirmed the incident saying the probe is on and a breakthrough is expected any moment.  Probed further he said he was not in a position to give any conclusive statement in the matter.

A police official supported Tabrez saying two youths have been detained at a police station and are being questioned.

This is not the first time someone was shot dead in the district. Four months ago a para teacher Xavier Lakra was shot dead at Gadiajore under Kurdeg police station area of the district at his house by five armed miscreants.  Miscreants had committed the murder after disconnecting the power of the entire village.
