Jamshedpur, Aug 18: Tata Steel signed the annual bonus agreement for the year 2020-21 today with Tata Workers’ Union ( TWU), the Intuc-affiliated recognised union for all its locations – the Jamshedpur plant Tubes Division and Tisco Growth Shop.

The bonus pact was signed by Tata Steel managing director T V Narendran and TWU president Sanjeev Choudhary at the company’s board room.

As per the agreement, Rs 270.28 crore would be disbursed as bonus. Last year, the amount that was given away as a bonus was Rs 235.54 crore.

A total of 22,871 employees would be eligible for getting the annual bonus. Of 22,871, the number of employees based at the Jamshedpur plant who would be entitled to get bonus is 12,558.

The bonus money would be sent to the respective banks and the employees can draw it from them, from next week onwards.

TWU officials said this year employees would get 16 per cent bonus as compared to last year’s 12.9 per cent.

The company would pay bonus to all employees in unionised category, including supervisors.

TWU president Sanjeev Choudhary expressed happiness over the bonus pact.

” Despite a challenging time posed by the Covid-19 pandemic the bonus agreement was quite good. The bonus amount has increased compared to last year. We look forward to a much better situation next year, ” he said.
