Ranchi, Aug.28: Depressed by the death of his younger brother and Covid-19 infection, a 65-yr-old man, Chote Lal Singh, today committed suicide by hanging himself from Jumar River Bridge under Khelgaon police station area with the help of a rope.  He was a resident of Booty More.

His body was noticed hanging this morning by locality residents, who informed the police for legal action suspecting it as a case of murder. Police recovered the body and sent it for autopsy at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).

Officer-in-charge of Khelgaon police station Lalan Kumar confirmed the incident saying it was not a murder but a case of suicide and a case of un-natural death was registered in this connection.

“We did not recover any suicide note. Singh’s family members told us that the man was very much depressed after the death of his younger brother. He also had recovered from Covid-19 in the second wave. This had made his depression level up,” OC Kumar said.
