Dhanbad, Sept 8: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probing the Dhanbad judge Uttam Anand’s death has increased the bounty to Rs 10 lakh from Rs 5 lakh for informing about the conspirator.
The CBI team on Wednesday afternoon put up posters regarding Rs 10 lakh reward at several central points, including Randhir Verma Chowk near Court More, City Centre, Bankmore in the coal city.The CBI Delhi team has issued posters promising to keep the name of the informer secret. In the poster, the CBI has given three telephone numbers of its Delhi office including personal mobile number of the superintendent of police (main investigator) Vijay Kumar Shukla (011-24368640, 011-24368641 and 7827728856) for informing about the conspirator.
In a span of 24 days, the CBI has increased the reward to Rs 10 lakh for an informer. Earlier on August 15 the CBI superintendent of police had announced a bounty of Rs 5 lakh for informing about the conspirator of the judge accidental death.
The poster says if any person is having any kind of knowledge/information of importance related to this case he/she may kindly inform CBI, Special Crime- 1 New Delhi Camp on telephone numbers. A cash reward of Rs 10 lakh will be given to the person who will furnish worthwhile information related to the crime.
Additional District Judge of Dhanbad Uttam Anand was killed in a road accident in the early morning of July 28 at Randhir Verma Chowk near district court while he was on a morning walk. CCTV camera footage showed an auto rickshaw hitting him from behind.
Dhanbad police seized the auto-rickshaw from Giridih district and arrested accused driver Lakhan Verma and his accomplice Rahul Verma on the same day of the accident.
The CBI has increased the bounty after Narco test and brain mapping of both the accused at Ahmedabad (Gujarat) reportedly failed to give any breakthrough in the investigation. On returning from Ahmedabad on September 4, the CBI team surrendered both the accused in court where the first class judicial magistrate sent them in judicial custody.
The CBI has been investigating the judge’s accident case since August 4, and used all technical tests of the accused to reach a conclusion.
The Special Investigation team (SIT) of the state government had also probed the incident but failed to resolve.
