Dhanbad, Sept 27: S M Hashmi and Ranjit Keshri were elected as President and General Secretary respectively in the much-publicized Dhanbad District Olympic Association (DOA) election for the session 2021-2024. Total 54 voters of 27 affiliated sports associations of the district had participated in the election.
The election was conducted through ballots for the first time in 41 years of the association. Jharkhand Olympic Association’s (JOA) Working President Hashmi defeated former JOA Executive President BC Thakur by 20 votes. Hashmi got 36 votes against 16 of Thakur.
Ranjit Keshri has been elected as the General Secretary for the second time. He defeated the outgoing Vice-President Asit Sahay by 20 votes. Ranjit got 20 votes against 16 of Asit.
On three posts of Senior Vice-president, Pramod Kapoor (42 votes) Reja Ishtiyaque (34 votes) and Zubair Alam ( 29 votes) were declared as winners. Kiran Rani Nayak (45 votes), Kalol Samanta (41 votes), Santosh Kumar Singh (40 votes), Madan Kumar Ray (39 votes), Anupam Mehta (34 votes) and Sunil Kumar (34 votes) became the Vice-presidents.
Pawan Kumar Barnwal was elected the new treasurer of DOA defeating Dinesh Yadav by 14 votes. Barnwal got 33 votes against 19 of Yadav.
For three posts of Additional Secretary, Suraj Prakash Lal (38 votes), Manoj Kumar Sharma (31 votes) and Dinesh Yadav (19 votes) were elected. Pappu Kumar (41 votes) Pankaj Kumar (41 votes) PK Rao (37 votes) and Washim Hashmi (27 votes) became joint secretaries.
Besides these, Kusum Mahto, Rajesh Kumar Yadav, and Shiv Kumar Mahto were elected as the executive members of the association.
