Dhanbad, Oct 1: Police have fished out two bodies and a Maruti car from Goshala burning Ghat pond under the Jharia police station area on Friday morning.
Jharia police station officer-in-charge Pankaj Kumar Jha informed that bodies were identified as Visheswar Das (48) and Sidharth Sanyal (45), residents of Harish Apartment, Gandhi Nagar under Dhansar police station area.
Along with the bodies, police also recovered their Maruti car from the pond. One of the back gates of the car was found open and its front glass was broken. It is allegedly reported that police also recovered one empty and one full bottle of liquor from the car.
According to the police, Goshala burning Ghat is curved near the pond and their car might have slipped into it amidst heavy rains.
“ However, initial information is that both had come to Gandhi Nagar resident Baban Diwan yesterday for performing the last rites of their common friend at Goshala burning Ghat. During bathing after completing the rites, they drowned. People searched for both of them. But owing to the darkness and heavy rains they couldn’t find and returned to their respective house,” said Pankaj Kumar Jha.
Surprisingly, no one informed neither Jharia police nor Dhansar police about the missing of Das and Sanyal at night.
On Friday’s early morning, police were informed about floating bodies in the pond. With help from local people, both the bodies were bought out. A Maruti car also recovered.
It has been found out that Das had a car servicing centre in Gandhi Nagar.
“Police are investigating the incident. Only after the post mortem, police would comment over the reason of death,” added Jha.
