Jamshedpur, Oct 2: In a sensational incident, four members of a family were hacked to death at a village under the Hatgamharia thana area in West Singhbhum district around Friday midnight.
The gruesome incident has taken place at the Kendposhi village of the Hatgamharia, about 100 kms away from here around midnight.
Those butchered were a 40-year-old woman, a 50-year-old man, a 26-year-old youth and a 12-year-old boy.
The police recovered all the four bodies on Saturday morning from the house and have started an investigation into the quadruple murder having taken about half a dozen suspects in custody.
From the initial investigation, it was learnt that a dispute over a bullock between the victim’s family and the suspects was the result of these killings.
West Singhbhum’s superintendent of police, Ajay Linda who has gone to the spot said that they have detained six persons from the Kendposhi village for interrogation.
“As nobody in the village is speaking anything about the killings, we have picked up those people who were seen with the victims for the last time on Friday evening, ” said Linda.
The superintendent of police said from the initial probe it appeared that a bullock was the apple of discord between the victims’ family and the assailants.
Linda said the assailants had attacked with axes by storming the victims’ house around midnight. He stated that they had first killed two members on the veranda of the house while they were asleep and later killed two others, including the woman by entering the house.
