RIMS CTVS department conducts 100th open-heart surgery

Ranchi, Oct 5: The CTVS department of the RIMS super-speciality block has set a record by completing a century in open-heart surgery.  Started in January 2019, the CTVS department today has a world-class Modular Operation Theater.

Patients not only from Jharkhand but also from neighbouring states come to the department for treatment.  The first open-heart surgery was done on 05 February 2019.  The help of doctors of PGI Chandigarh was taken in this operation.  After this, the department was equipped with all the resources.

The CTVS department has got a Heart-Lung Machine required for open-heart surgery and modular OT in 2019.

Assistant Professor Dr Anshul Kumar, Department of RIMS CTVS said that regular cardiac surgery started in October 2019 with the help of specialist doctors from other states.

“Now the CTVS department of RIMS has all its resources available and we are continuously doing surgeries of the patients,” he further added.

The 100th open heart surgery was done on a patient named Vikas Kumar Rai, a resident of Jamui who had breathing problems and heart failure as well. He was admitted to the cardiology department and his health was stabilized after giving medicine for 50 days. After which an open heart surgery was performed on September 30. He has been kept in close supervision of the doctor and the patient’s health is fine.

Dr Anshul Kumar; Dr Rakesh Kumar (Cardiac Surgeon); Shamim, Rajendra (Technician); Anesthesia HOD Dr Usha Shuvalk; Dr Shivpriya; Dr Mukesh; Dr Nitesh (PDCC); Dr Amit and CTVS Head Prof RG Bakhala are part of this team.
