Jamshedpur, Oct 6: South Eastern Railway (SER) achieved remarkable growth in fresh loading in the first six months of the current fiscal.
Figures available from SER’s commercial section in Kolkata revealed that it loaded 95.33 Million Tonnes of originating freight in the first six months i.e. April to September of the current financial year (2021-22), as against 76.13 million tonnes loaded in the corresponding period of last year, registering a growth of 25.22 %.
There is also a rise of 31.88 % in originating freight revenue in comparison to the first six months of the last fiscal.
From April to September 2021, the revenue generation from originating freight loading has been Rs 7793.01 crores against Rs. 5909.33 crores in the same period of the previous year.
The main commodities of freight loading during the first six months of 2021-22 were iron ore, coal, pig iron, finished steel, cement, fertilizers and petroleum products.
SER has loaded 53.35 Million Tonnes of iron ore during this period, which is 15 % more than the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.
A spokesperson said Jharkhand’s Chakradharpur and Ranchi railway divisions gave the maximum contribution.
