Jamshedpur, Oct 9: Three persons were killed on the spot as the motorcycle they were riding hit at Kharsawan in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district, about 40 kms away from here on Saturday late afternoon.
The victims who were residents of Chakradharpur in West Singhbhum district met the accident while going to Amda in Kharsawan at about 3.30 pm.
Those killed were identified as Binda Gaud (33), Vivek Mondal (27) and Ravi Paswan (20).
The mishap took place near a petrol pump at Amda on Kharsawan-Chakradharpur road under Amda thana out-post (TOP) area in Kharsawan.
Revealing about the incident, Amda TOP in-charge, Mohammed Naushad said that the three victims were riding the bike for Chakradharpur towards Amda when the bike had deviated from its way and had rammed into a tree on the roadside.
“Vivek Mondal was riding the bike with the two others were pillion-riders. The bike was at a breakneck speed and neither of the three was wearing a helmet, ” said Naushad.
He said as the bike was at a maddening speed, the bike rider must have lost control over the two-wheeler and rammed into the tree.
The TOP in-charge said that a police party had immediately reached the spot getting information about the mishap.
“We rushed all the injured to a Cluster Health Centre at Kharsawan, where the doctors declared all the three as brought dead. The victims had sustained fatal head injuries, ” the TOP in-charge said.
The police have recovered the bodies and shifted them to the Seraikela Sadar Hospital for postmortem.
